Improve your project with the experience and knowledge necessary to fabricate virtually any size or complexity of vacuum chamber or assembly, from moderate vacuum for industrial processes to extremely high vacuum (XHV) for critical scientific study.

Industry Leading Vacuum Chambers: Materials, Design & Craftsmanship

Real-world field experience working in Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium and other alloys, allows our engineers to design the most cost-effective and efficient chambers delivered by the best equipment, welders, project management and quality systems.

Since 1989 the top National Labs and Universities have counted on the Applied Vacuum Division for custom vacuum design-and-build research projects, only to repeat production of chambers for world-class equipment manufacturers.

The Applied Vacuum Division engineers use SolidWorks 3D software for vacuum chamber design, which enables rapid visualization of your requirements and quick translation to manufacturing drawings. Also, COSMOSXpress stress analysis utility helps identify unacceptable chamber wall deformations and weld stresses. These powerful software tools help us deliver products that exceed your performance expectations.

Surface finish is an important aspect of vacuum chambers, impacting both appearance and performance. Applied Vacuum Division is an expert at finishing stainless steel and other metals. From mechanical grinding and polishing to chemical passivation or electro-polish, we have the resources to produce the best and most consistent finish your chamber might require.

Advanced Vacuum Chamber Design

  • Integrated Cooling Options – With vacuum systems involving processes with significant thermal output, we provide integrated cooling options such as welded and hydro-formed channels or double-wall designs.
  • Dual Ratings for Vacuum and Pressure – Our engineering group can assist you with design considerations to meet safety and mechanical concerns, including dual rating for ASME/PED pressure requirements.
  • Custom components – Most chambers include integrated or related components such as baseplates, hinged doors, domed lids, frames and hardware or flanges. Applied Vacuum Division can include these items as part of our custom design and fabrication; we can provide these as separate items or integrated.

Throughout the build process, extreme cleanliness and attention to finish quality are paramount. All welded assemblies are 100% helium leak tested.

We have Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) to review critical weld joints. Final dimensional inspection utilizes our Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
