U2 Universal 2 Series Pump

The U2 Universal 2 rotary positive displacement pumps from SPX FLOW Waukesha Cherry-Burrell are a great option between the legacy U1 series pumps and the newest SPX FLOW ECP pump, the U3 series pumps.

The U2 pump series offers improved hygienic performance and even more longevity features than the original U1 pump series. These were the industry standard for ECP pumps until 2018 when the newest U3 series hit the market. The U2 series offered substantial design improvements and is a serious heavy-duty upgrade to the U1 series where more reliability and improved hygienic performance are demanded.

Key Sanitary Features Include:

CIP capability is available for all models
The pump body has an optional internal flat body profile, which allows it to free-drain with vertical ports
Optional rotor and body hub drilling provided for challenging CIP cleaning applications
The cover is free-draining in the horizontal or vertical port positions
The rotor/shaft connection is sealed from the product zone
Optional double mechanical seals are available
Seal flush is optional. The seal areas are interconnected to improve circulation and draining of seal flush fluid
Steam-In-Place is also optional
Stainless steel bearing frame optional on models 006 to 370
Aseptic design is available

Key Reliability and Long-Life Features Include:

Up to 500 psi (34.5 bar) pressure capability. Compares to 200 psi for the U1 pump series
No bearings in the product zone
Large diameter 17-4 PH shafts for greater strength and stiffness, improving seal reliability
Heavy-duty bearing frame (stainless steel available as an option)
Double tapered roller bearings
Greased lubed bearings for positive lubrication to all bearings over the entire speed, temperature, and pressure range
Body retaining screws for maintaining mechanical seal contact during inspection
Extended outer seal life. A wave spring, instead of an O-ring, mechanically loads the seal
The O-Ring on the inner seal seals on a clean surface as the seal moves due to wear
Unique mechanical seal design utilizes a 3-pin stationary seal and a special design shaft for rotary seal.
