ADI Helping Scientific Research for Today and the Future

The Scientific Method, as described by Websterâ’‚¬’„¢s Dictionary, is as follows:

â’‚¬Å“…the systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.â’‚¬nbsp;

Over time and repetition, the experiments and discoveries of our scientists and research technicians can help us better understand our world, ourselves, and our universe. Perhaps there is no other field in which the equipment is so crucial to those using it. Even one slight variation in a testing model can spoil an otherwise sound theory or hypotheses and upend a lifetime of research.

Thatâ’‚¬’„¢s why the personnel working on the frontiers of the biggest discoveries need the most cutting-edge, precision-built, and durable equipment for their projects. Here are just a few of the research and discoveries of the scientific and technical fields in which Anderson Dahlen has been a vital contributor.

ADI Vacuum Chambers And The Race for Fusion Energy

The race to secure new, carbon-free, energy sources has evolved to include fusion energy. It is predicted the emerging industry of commercial nuclear fusion reactors will be ready within the next decade. However, creating a power source with the strength of a star is no simple feat and will require top-tier reliable equipment.

One of the most crucial components for energy experimentation are vacuum chambers that can safely contain a high discharge of energy. Right now, Commonwealth Fusion Systems has secured a $1,800,000,000 grant to research fusion energy with backing from investors like Bill Gates and John Doerr.

Their studies involve extremely powerful magnets encased in stainless-steel vacuum chambers. ADI became involved in the project when contacts at a leading technology institute who know our vacuum chamber manufacturing capabilities reached out for a vacuum chamber that would be up to the rigorous engineering standards of their research technicians.

Supporting Science Now, and In The Future

One key contribution weâ’‚¬’„¢ve made in the field of physics was an A+ upgrade to The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) at CalTech â’‚¬’€œ a large-scale physics experiment designed and built to detect cosmic gravitational waves. For LIGO, Anderson Dahlenâ’‚¬’„¢s Applied Vacuum Division (AVD) built a new high-vacuum filter cavity (FC) vacuum beamline in support of an A+ upgrade that expanded LIGOâ’‚¬’„¢s sensitivity to gravitational waves and increased their volume of searchable space by seven times!

This is where we come in to help some of the most innovative and groundbreaking research organizations in the country fuel their studies. From Argonne to Jefferson Labs, including the nationâ’‚¬’„¢s leading research organizations, ADI has provided the key technical resources for the engineering and manufacturing of equipment and major components. These are integral in the commercial and research applications necessary to advance the fields of science, emerging tech, and the commercial scale-up that stems from new developments.

While weâ’‚¬’„¢ve been committed to supporting and expanding these incredible new frontiers of discovery, we are also fully aware that, in order to continue being a part of these incredible projects, we must support the developing community of engineers, scientists, and physicists whoâ’‚¬’„¢ll conduct these projects in the future.

As a sponsor for STEM events like â’‚¬Å“Introduce A Girl To Engineering Dayâ’‚¬nbsp; at Argonne labs and Hamline Universityâ’‚¬’„¢s High School Innovation and Renewable Energy Camps, ADI and our parent company Gray are investing today, to support the emerging scientists and research technicians of tomorrow.

Manufacture the Future With ADI

We are constantly evolving and growing to meet the new horizons of the future. And our vacuum chambers are just one of many products used in the adventurous new projects that will revolutionize our society and our world.

If you want to take part in helping us reach new discoveries and contribute to scientific progress, apply to Anderson Dahlen Inc. With us, you are not just part of the future; youâ’‚¬’„¢re helping us to manufacture it.
