Downstream Enclosure & Drift Pipe for Jefferson Lab

Anderson Dahlen is proud to support the MOLLER Experiment at Jefferson Lab, where we were awarded a contract to manufacture the Downstream Enclosure and Drift Pipe.

Working closely with the Jefferson Lab team, our engineers refined the designs for manufacturability while meeting demanding structural and high-vacuum requirements. The Drift Pipe was constructed entirely of aluminum, while the Downstream Enclosure featured an aluminum top on a stainless steel base. Both components required the development of specialized aluminum welding procedures to meet project specifications.

Measuring up to 182 inches tall, 120 inches wide, and 300 inches long, the Downstream Enclosure leveraged Anderson Dahlen’s expansive manufacturing space and crane capacity for fabrication, assembly, and full dimensional and vacuum testing before shipment.

This project highlights our capabilities in precision fabrication, advanced welding, complex assemblies, and engineering collaboration, demonstrating our ability to deliver custom manufacturing solutions for demanding scientific and high-vacuum applications.
