Design-and-Build Project To Improve Manufacturing For BIX Produce

Anderson Dahlen custom manufactures a variety of products, ranging from single parts to whole systems. Anderson Dahlen recently teamed up with BIX Produce to custom manufacture a large automated conveyor system. The custom system was designed to improve BIX employee safety, ergonomics and efficiency. For more than 80 years, BIX Produce has focused on delivering the highest quality produce as well as cheeses, nuts, herbs, spices, and more to customers located in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota.

Anderson Dahlen was approached by BIX to provide design and manufacturing services for a solution which would meet all of their process requirements. Anderson Dahlen’€™s engineers, CAD designers, and manufacturing team created a custom industrial platform with integrated conveyor and product lifting station. The lift was fabricated to raise boxes up and automatically bring them down the conveyor belt to be processed. While manufacturing the lift, it underwent special fabrication to meet customer specifications. Engineers designed the system with sanitation in mind and built in removable product dividers and quick release belt tensioners to allow a thorough wash-down and sanitation of product cutting areas.

Anderson Dahlen strives for the highest level of customer satisfaction. To uphold that standard, Anderson Dahlen followed up with BIX to confirm their satisfaction with the new equipment and gauge their overall experience as a customer. BIX’€™s senior production manager stated that ‘€œour experience with Anderson Dahlen was very good. They are very knowledgeable and kept us updated when issues arose. They followed up after installation and we would work with them again’€. When asked about how Anderson Dahlen’€™s product has benefited their company, they said the conveyor belt and lift has ‘€œincreased efficiency, decreased waste, and has improved ergonomics.’€
