ADI Spotlight: Matthew Blaha

Meet Matthew! Matthew Blaha is a Program Manager at Anderson Dahlen. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato majoring in Automotive Engineering Technology with a minor in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Since graduating with his degree, he participated in many leadership courses including the Gray Leadership Academy. In addition, he has also received formal training in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, ISO 9001 internal auditing, and completed a 9-credit Vacuum Technology Certificate at a local community college. He also has recently started on the path to earning his MBA. Matthew has held many roles in the engineering field including Design Engineer, Test Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, and Sales Engineer.

Matthew started at ADI as a Project Manager in February of 2018 and transitioned to the Program Manager of the vacuum segment in September of 2020. Most of his day is centered around supporting his team and giving them what they need to execute at a high level. This ranges from brainstorming the best way to execute a project to participating in meetings to monitor the status of projects. His favorite part of what he does is working with a driven group of people to build highly technical and complicated equipment.

Since his time at ADI, he said the most positive area of growth and change for the company that he admires has been our transfer of knowledge. “Since I have been there, we have had multiple long-tenure people retire. It amazes me how smooth the responsibilities and knowledge have been passed off. The people coming into new positions are given the resources needed to be successful. I also see the internal growth of the people at ADI as a positive,” he said. In one word or phrase, he described ADI as “craftsmanship.” “What we build requires great skill, from the upfront planning and engineering stage through every operational step. The people at ADI are craftsmen,” he said.

Matthew recently completed the Gray Leadership Academy. He said it was an awesome experience to be able to meet peers from the other Gray companies and learn from them and with them. “As a person who does not interact with the other Gray companies regularly, it was nice to meet people who are part of my “team” and see the things that Gray is involved in,” he said.

When asked what his favorite part about being a member of the ADI team is, he said, “teamwork is my favorite part about being a member of ADI. Individuals at ADI have the understanding that to function at a high level and achieve the results that our customers expect we need to work as a team.”
